Are You a EUth Worker?
From the 10th to the 16th of May 2015 the training “Are you a EUth Worker?” took place in Agape Ecumenical Center. 16 participants from 9 different organisations and countries meet in the italian Alps and discussed about lot of interesting issues.
We started with a brain storming about the general themes of the training: Europe, Youth Worker, Youth, Training, Project. From this first acitivity we produced our definitions of these topics, trying to find out which meanings and how many different interpretations where hidden behind simple words.
Then we tryed to find out who is the ideal youthworker, which skills and competences he/she should have or learn and which characteristics are important for beeing a Youth Woker. We understood this might be a really complex job!
We then discovered the story of the place we were, Agape Ecumenical Center, and we also share our personal background and stories as youth workers. In a second time we were able to present our sending organisations to all the participants. Everyone was inspired by all our experiences and the work of every organisation.
With the simulation game we discussed about the difficulty of the intercultural dialogue and the complexity of developping a project. Right after the game we focused on what does it mean to plan and implement a project. Using the metaphor of a coffee machine everyone tryed to point out which are all the important phases, and togheter we discussed about the main elments of the project managment.
During the workshop about project managment we explored several tools: the main one was the Goal Oriented Project Planning, and togheter we learnt how to build a problem and a solution tree. Divided into two groups we worked on two differents possible future projects for young people. We now have to keep these ideas and turn them into reality!
In Turin we visited the International Labour Organisation center where we were able to know which are other possibility of training and personal growth in a more international contexts.
During the training we always had time to experiment some ice-braking games, energizers, getting to know each other games, and this was also something important to collect and keep for our future carrier.
The week was exciting, interesting and full of iportant imputs. Everyone participated and we were able to stay togheter in a group, working and also having fun togheter.
